Check out the NEW Pro Ranch Market in Mesa

Last week we gathered a small group of twitter friends to checkout the NEW Pro Ranch Market in Mesa. Thanks to everyone that made it @mesagolfland @ousooner44 @cwaterhouse and of course me @visitmesa We look forward to meeting more local twitter friends at future lunches, etc…

Now back to Pro Ranch Market… It is located on Southern and Stapley on the SW corner and this place is simply amazing if you enjoy Mexican food and shopping. The food was delicious, fresh fruit drinks, bakery, candy store, and so much more. I had a torta and enjoyed visiting with my friends on the indoor benches. Checkout this news story from the East Valley Tribune about the opening celebrations a few weeks ago

Can You Dig It?

Tourism Terrie here again. Being a mother of 4 and a grandmother of 10, parks are a special place for me. I have spent a lot of my adult life visiting them. This week I was privileged to assist in a project at the Park of the Canals located on Horne and Brown. A group known as KABOOM brought together a group of volunteers from Home Depot and around the city of Mesa to work on revamping the park May 26, 27, and 28. Along with me were 2 of my co- workers Natalie and James reporting for duty at 7:30 AM on May 26th. We spent the day in the heat sweating and working along side other volunteers to jazz up this little park in Mesa. New playground equipment was installed, it was the largest playground equipment Kaboom has ever installed according to one Kaboom team member. There was painting, bricking, planting, hauling, moving, stacking and did I say sweating? It was awesome and I am so glad I had the opportunity to assist in this project. The Park is complete and ready to be played in so mom’s and dad’s, grandma’s and grandpa’s, pack up the babies and grab the old ladies and everyone’ goes….to the Mesa Park Of The Canals.

Chic Contemporary at 12 West Main

12 West Main

On Tuesday Downtown Mesa’s newest special events venue, 12 West Main, opened their doors to the public for their Open House and Mini Bridal Show.  A couple of us were lucky enough to get a glimpse and take part in the fun festivities, which featured local businesses from the tasty treats of Sweet Cakes Café in Downtown Mesa to photographers and make-up artists.

The chic, contemporary feel of the high ceilings and red brick walls really make this a unique and fun venue for weddings and other special events.  And if you feel like putting your dancing boots on, 12 West Main hosts country dancing on Wednesday nights!

Wii – Baseball Fun at the Museum!!

The Mesa Historical Museum recently hosted our partners and staff to special tour of the Play Ball! Cactus League Experience

Wii had fun peeking through the “knothole” fence to view various images from baseball’s past and reminiscing about Buckhorn Baths while viewing the treatment room replication.
BUT I had the MOST fun playing the Wii Basball game!! It was fun to challenge other players and when I left at the bottom of the 3rd, I was up 4 to 1!!

I’ll Have a Side of History With My Meal

landmark doorWhen guests come into town we always make a point to go to The Landmark Restaurant, not only for the fabulous food but for the history and ambience as well. Built in 1908 as a Mormon Church, there used to be a canal lined with large cottonwood trees on the east side (what is now Extension Road). The building later became the first campus of Mesa Community College. The Landmark has an extensive menu including gluten-free options, but it’s the salad room that I gravitate to with every visit. The Victorian decor with white linen tablecloths reminds me of being a kid and finally getting to sit at the grown-ups table during the holidays. After a meal I like to visit the photo gallery downstairs where over 200 historical photographs are on display. If you’re looking for an out-of-the-ordinary place to have a leisurely lunch or dinner, put The Landmark Restaurant at the top of your list.

Great Pie (Pizza that is)!

LJ’s Pizza is Great!
I have been eating here for well over a decade and you can’t beat the Monday – Friday Lunchtime (and Saturday Nights) All You Can Eat Pizza Buffet. They have many different varieties of pizzas available and will make any special requests too.
LJ's Pizza Buffet Lunchtime M-F and Sat Evenings
LJ’s Pizza also has live music on Friday and Saturday nights making it a great family place to dine. Not to mention a salad bar, the BEST garlic bread anywhere, and everyone gets an ice cream cone when you’ve had enough pizza.

Check them out sometime soon on Main Street just West of Gilbert.

Not Your Momma’s French Fries

S'Bistro 2Coming to you live from the Mesa CVB it’s Tourism Terrie here. I went out to lunch the other day with a friend and we walked down Main Street looking for a place that I had not tried before. We wound up eating at S’Bistro located at 124 W Main Street in beautiful downtown Mesa. Oh my gosh!!! This place is great, the tables have white linens, and are pre set they just invite you to come in and relax. I ordered soup and a sandwich and it came with sweet potato fries as well. Now these are not your normal every day sweet potato fries, these were unbelievable. The owner and Chef Brian Banasek created this recipie himself. I have never had sweet potato fries this good anywhere, they almost melt in your mouth. As we were finishing up Brian came out to greet us and ask how we enjoyed our lunch. What a treat to meet the creator of such a great little restaurant and the most delicious sweet potato fries. The next time you are looking for a great lunch go to downtown Mesa and visit Brian at S’Bistro.

It's Peach Season in Queen Creek!

If you love peaches, Schnepf Farms is the place to visit this month. There’s a Peach Festival, May 15-17 that includes peach food sampling, chef demonstrations, hay rides to the orchards to pick the fruit, arts and crafts booths, and live entertainment. The U-Pick orchards are open every Friday, Saturday, Sunday in May – nothing like picking a fresh peach, eating it in the orchard and having the juice drip down your chin — sweet!
Schnepf Farms is located at 24810 S. Rittenhouse Road, Queen Creek, just southeast of Mesa. (480) 987-3100
