I recently took my family to Saguaro Lake for an evening of fun and entertainment. We headed for the marina and started with dinner at the Lakeshore Restaurant where they served large portions of tasty food and the service was great. They offer a wide range of tempting items to eat with an all-you-can eat fish fry on Friday night and crab legs on Saturday night.
Our destination this evening was to go on board the Desert Belle and laugh. I wasn’t sure what to expect as this was the first comedy cruise I’ve ever experienced. We went down to the boat by 6:40 p.m. for the 7:00 p.m. cruise so we could get a good seat on the top deck where the stage is. The sun set about half way through the cruise so we had plenty of time to enjoy the beauty of Saguaro Lake with the towering canyon walls and dramatic desert vistas. What a tranquil thing to do after a busy week! We sat on the top deck for a while to watch the comedians Lamar Newmeyer and John Waldron. The passengers on board really enjoyed their witty entertainment throughout the 90-minute cruise. By the way, these comedian/actor/writer’s have appeared on stage locally as well as on national television and in movies.
After awhile, we went down to sit on the front deck and enjoy the amazing scenery as we navigated through the pristine Sonoran Desert canyons. You could hear the comedians everywhere on the boat so you were still afforded every opportunity to laugh and enjoy the view; they even have a camera on the performers so you can see them on screens throughout the air conditioned cabin. There simply is not a bad seat in the entire house! In addition to the regular narrated nature cruises, you can also enjoy cruises with musical entertainment on Friday & Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and another comedy cruise at 7:00 p.m. on May 26.
Now that so many people have enjoyed this new entertainment on the Desert Belle, you won’t want to wait long to purchase your tickets. Visit www.DesertBelle.com for the current cruise schedule and to purchase tickets for a special upcoming cruise.
