The Grand Prix is coming…the Grand Prix is coming!

Since Mesa Sports Tourism & Developments’ inception we have scored some fairly significant sporting events in Mesa.  You could make the case that none have been bigger than the event Mesa just landed this week!  The 2013-2016 USA Swimming Grand Prix series will be making a stop and calling Mesa home for 4 years.

The Grand Prix series is a showcase series for USA Swimming.  An annual six city stop, the Grand Prix attracts 600-800 competitive swimmers from across the nation, and even internationally, in every city it is held.  This year’s meets included elite names like Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, and Natalie Coughlin and Missy Franklin just to name a few.  All meets are streamed around the globe in live online broadcasts or televised nationally on NBC/Universal Sports.

“We are incredibly honored that USA Swimming has entrusted our organization to host what we consider to be one of the ‘crown jewels’ of swimming events,” Paul Smith, Mesa Aquatics CEO.  “The collaboration of MAC, The City of Mesa, the CVB (Convention and Visitors Bureau) and Mesa Public Schools has allowed us to fully maximize two of the finest facilities in the country. We look forward to putting on an incredible event April 11-13, 2013 and for the following three years leading up to the 2016 Olympics!”
